Professor Emeritus Thomas Hecht

Prof Tom Hecht is regarded as a leading authority in Aquaculture and Fisheries Science throughout Africa and the West Indian Ocean region. He brings 40 years of science, research and industry development experience to Advance Africa, making it one of the most qualified consulting companies in the subject matter. Tom is highly regarded by his peers and has published in excess of 150 peer reviewed scientific papers.

He has been entrusted by national, regional and local governments to establish development frameworks and policy, governing aquaculture and fisheries sector and industry programmes. Tom works closely with the Advance Africa team in providing guidance to economic feasibility studies and business plans for aquaculture and fisheries management programmes.
