Advance Africa was contracted by The World Bank under the Kenya Marine Fisheries and Socio-Economic Development (KEMFSED) project to compile a roadmap for developing and unlocking mariculture potential in Kenya, with a particular emphasis on promoting a business-oriented approach and creating opportunities for coastal communities and producers to engage in aquaculture and share benefits.
The study included an assessment of the governance framework and investment environment in Kenya, a review of past and current mariculture activities, an assessment of the potential for mariculture, an analysis of the business environment in coastal Kenya, and detailed stakeholder engagement activities in the coastal counties.
